Welcome to GeoBlitz — a geography quiz game operated by Dimitris Grigoroudis ("we," "our," or "us"). By using the GeoBlitz mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using GeoBlitz, you confirm that:
- You are at least 13 years of age, or
- You have permission from a parent or guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf
- You are legally able to enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction
If you do not meet these requirements, you must not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
GeoBlitz is a free-to-play geography quiz game with the following features:
- Flag Frenzy — multiple choice flag identification
- Border Lines — country outline matching
- Map Master — map-based location guessing
- Gate Check — airport code identification
- Terra Incognita — fun facts trivia about countries
- World Icons — landmark identification
- Daily Challenge — a daily competition with a global leaderboard
- Leagues — weekly competitive tiers (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond)
- Pro Upgrade — a one-time $4.99 purchase that removes ads and unlocks additional features
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice.
3. Account Registration
3.1 Account Creation
You may create an account using Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
3.2 Guest Mode
You may play GeoBlitz as a guest without creating an account. Guest progress is stored locally on your device and will be lost if you delete the app or clear app data. Guest users cannot access leaderboards, leagues, or sync progress across devices.
3.3 Account Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these Terms
- Engage in cheating, exploitation, or fraud
- Use the Service for illegal purposes
- Spam or abuse the leaderboard system
We will attempt to notify you before termination where reasonably possible.
4. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Cheat — use bots, scripts, VPNs, or any method to gain unfair advantage
- Exploit bugs — use known or unknown bugs for competitive or financial advantage
- Impersonate — create accounts in someone else's name
- Harass — target other users with abusive behavior in public spaces
- Scrape — use automated tools to collect game content, scores, or user data
- Reverse engineer — decompile, disassemble, or extract game logic from the app
- Resell Pro — redistribute Pro access or share purchased benefits
Violation may result in account suspension, leaderboard reset, or permanent ban.
5. In-App Purchases
5.1 GeoBlitz Pro
- Price: $4.99 USD (or equivalent in your local currency)
- Type: Non-consumable (one-time purchase, tied to your Apple ID / Google account)
- Includes: Ad removal, extra daily hints, Pro badge, enhanced stats
- Entitlement: Pro access is linked to your App Store or Play Store account and will be restored automatically on reinstall or new device if signed into the same store account
5.2 Payment Terms
- All purchases are processed by Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)
- Prices are displayed in your local currency and include applicable taxes
- All purchases are final. We do not offer refunds except as required by law (see §5.3)
- We are not responsible for charges made through third-party platforms
5.3 Refund Policy
- Apple: Refund requests are handled by Apple per their refund policy
- Google: Refund requests are handled by Google per their refund policy
6. Virtual Currency and Points
GeoBlitz does not use real-world currency to purchase virtual items. All in-game points, scores, and performance ratings are cosmetic and have no real-world monetary value. You cannot sell, transfer, or exchange in-game points for real money.
7. Cheating and Anti-Cheat
7.1 Detection
GeoBlitz uses server-side score validation. When you complete a game, the server recalculates your score from raw answer data. Scores that differ significantly from server-side calculations may be flagged.
7.2 Consequences
Users found cheating may have:
- Their scores removed from leaderboards
- Their performance rating reset to default
- Their account suspended or terminated
- Future submissions rate-limited or rejected
7.3 Automated Decisions
Score calculations and cheat detection are performed automatically by our server-side logic. You have the right to appeal a decision by contacting support@geoblitz.app.
8. Leaderboards and Rankings
8.1 Public Display
Your username and performance rating are displayed on public leaderboards. This information is visible to all other users of the Service.
8.2 League System
- Leagues reset on a weekly basis (every Sunday at 23:59 UTC)
- Promotion and demotion are automatic based on your performance rating
- League membership is non-transferable
8.3 Username Rules
Usernames must:
- Be between 3 and 20 characters
- Contain only letters, numbers, underscores, hyphens, and periods
- Not impersonate real persons or brands
- Not contain offensive or abusive language
We reserve the right to change or remove usernames that violate these rules.
9. Intellectual Property
9.1 Our Content
The GeoBlitz name, logo, graphics, sounds, and all original content are owned by Dimitris Grigoroudis. You may not use, copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the Service without our permission.
9.2 Third-Party Content
- Country flags are in the public domain
- Country outline data is sourced from Natural Earth (public domain)
- Airport data is sourced from OurAirports (public domain)
- Sound effects are licensed under CC0 or equivalent royalty-free licenses
9.3 User-Generated Content
You are responsible for the username you create. Usernames must not infringe on the intellectual property rights of others.
10. Third-Party Services
The Service uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own terms and privacy policies:
We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services.
11. Availability and Maintenance
We strive to keep the Service available 24/7, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be unavailable due to:
- Scheduled maintenance (we will provide notice when possible)
- Emergency security patches
- Issues beyond our control (internet infrastructure, third-party service outages)
We are not liable for any loss resulting from service unavailability.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service
- Our total liability for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim
- We are not liable for loss of gameplay data for guest users (not stored on our servers)
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dimitris Grigoroudis from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, or violation of any third-party rights.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via:
- An in-app notice at next launch
- Updates to the "Effective Date" at the top of this page
Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
15. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Greece, without regard to conflict of law principles.
If you have a concern or dispute, please contact us first at support@geoblitz.app. We will attempt to resolve the issue within 30 days. If we cannot reach an agreement, disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Greece, or as otherwise required by applicable law.
For EU users: You also have the right to file a complaint with your local consumer protection authority or use the European Online Dispute Resolution platform.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
